Rock County commissioners approve routine business, adopt autogate resolution

Bassett, Neb. — At its Sept. 16 meeting the Rock County Board of Commissioners moved through routine business and addressed several road and facilities items.

The board approved minutes from Aug. 27 and Sept. 2, the day’s agenda, and fee reports for the Clerk and the Clerk of the District Court (motions recorded with unanimous roll-call votes). Commissioners also reviewed and approved the 2025 annual inventories on file, noting that Emergency Management and the County Attorney had not yet turned in theirs and that the Sheriff is amending his inventory.

Road Foreman Waylon Reynolds presented road updates. The board discussed an autogate installation and maintenance policy and adopted Resolution 2025-12 on that policy (motion by Commissioner Colby Sybrant, seconded by Commissioner Faye Smith). Leases with NMC and NPPD were discussed and tabled until October. Other items—including repairs or replacement of the Community Center beef sign and grading assistance, and the east sidewalk behind the courthouse (Ally is obtaining three quotes)—were also tabled to the Oct. 7 meeting.

The board audited a slate of claims across funds and approved the September 16 claims by motion. The claims listing in the record includes line items such as employee salaries ($33,352.16), employee medical reimbursements ($18,314.52) and a $1,212 charge for a generator from NMC; the transcript provides many vendor and line-item entries but does not present a single summed total. The board adjourned at 4:15 p.m.; the clerk announced a public hearing on the 2025/26 budget would be held at 6:00 p.m. the same day.
