Rock County commissioners approve claims, void checks and designate courthouse as school evacuation site

The Rock County Board of Commissioners handled several routine administrative items at its Nov. 4 meeting in Bassett.
Commissioners approved the Oct. 21, 2025 minutes and the posted agenda (motions by Faye Smith and Colby Sybrant, both approved by unanimous roll call). The board also voted to void four checks (00200979 for $15.47; 00201668 for $50.00; 00201873 for $1,818.56; and 00210786 for $550.00) totaling $2,434.03 and to turn three checks (00201829 for $27.03; 00210786 for $15.27; and 00211187 for $35.00) to unclaimed property; that motion carried unanimously.
Treasurer Mona Davis reported roughly $600 in unpaid 2024 personal property taxes on distress warrants. Deputy Sheriff Derek White requested that the courthouse be designated an evacuation site for Bassett Grade School; Commissioner Smith moved and Sybrant seconded approval and the motion carried by roll call.
Fee reports for the Sheriff, Clerk and Clerk of the District Court were approved on a motion by Sybrant, seconded by Smith. The clerk presented a detailed claims list across multiple departments (General, Road, Library, Local Assistance & Tribal, 911 Emergency Equipment); Commissioner Sybrant moved and Smith seconded to approve the November 4 claims, and the board voted unanimously to approve them. The meeting adjourned at 4:28 p.m.; the next meeting was set for Nov. 18, 2025.
