Bassett, Neb. — At the Nov. 18 Rock County Board meeting, Ally Grant, a representative of NIRMA, told commissioners that early snow and ice removal at the courthouse is critical for public safety and noted a gutter on the courthouse’s northeast side is creating handicap accessibility problems; Justin Teel had been contacted about that gutter issue.
Road Foreman Waylon Reynolds provided updates on county roads. Resident Loren Thomas asked whether fencing on a section line was closed; commissioners’ research indicated it is an open section line. Resident Gary Buoy requested gravel for a county road between Finch Road and 848th that the Jordan family had repaired.
County Attorney Kurt Arganbright joined the meeting later; commissioners expressed concerns about a vendor’s invoicing process and Commissioner Faye Smith said she would contact the vendor for clarification.
Why this matters: early snow removal and site accessibility are public‑safety and ADA‑adjacency concerns for courthouse operations; road maintenance requests affect local travel and budgets. Commissioners recorded these operational issues and directed follow‑up steps rather than taking immediate financial action.
Next steps: the clerk’s office or county administration will track follow‑up on the gutter repair contact and the gravel request, and Commissioner Smith will contact the vendor about invoicing.
