Rock County commissioners reappoint Hollenbeck as chair, set 2026 meeting calendar

The Rock County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 20 reappointed Commissioner Wade D. Hollenbeck as chairman and Commissioner Colby Sybrant as vice chairman during its annual reorganization meeting. The nominations, made by Commissioner Colby Sybrant and seconded by Commissioner Faye Smith, were approved on a roll-call vote with all members voting in favor.
The board adopted a regular meeting schedule for 2026, designating the first and third Tuesday of each month as regular meeting dates with exceptions in June and December (three meetings in those months) and single meetings in January and July (third Tuesday). Meetings from May through October will begin at 9:00 a.m.; meetings from November through April will begin at 1:00 p.m. Notices are to be published the Wednesday prior to a meeting and minutes published within 10 days of a regular meeting.
Commissioner Faye Smith moved to designate the Rock County Leader as the county's official newspaper and to add the county website, rockcountyne.gov, as an additional method of providing public notice; the motion passed unanimously. The board also approved Wade Hollenbeck, Faye Smith and Colby Sybrant as signatories on the imprest checking account at The Tri-County Bank.
The calendar and procedural decisions finalize how the board will publish notice and conduct meetings for the coming year. The board adjourned at 4:45 p.m.; its next scheduled meeting is Feb. 3, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
