OSAC endorses two connector trails in Ranch at Breckenridge easements pending BOSAC concurrence

OSAC members unanimously supported constructing two trails using trail easements granted by the Phase 2 Ranch at Breckenridge developer, provided BOSAC also approves both alignments.
Staff said the easements would enable a connection between Sallie Barber Road and True Romance. One option is a hiking-only continuation of the existing Spiral Stairs trail; the other is a multi-use route that avoids a steep section of Sallie Barber Road near Australia Gulch. Staff reported receiving a combined construction bid of $80,000 to build both trails and cited $8 per foot as a typical trail-building cost.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife asked staff to avoid building a cross-Australia Gulch trail to reduce fragmentation. BOSAC expressed support for the trails but raised concerns about wildlife fragmentation and will discuss the project further. OSAC recommended building the trails as close to Australia Gulch as feasible to limit switchbacks and steep segments.
Outcome: OSAC unanimously approved both trails contingent on BOSAC approval. Staff will coordinate permitting, respond to CPW concerns and finalize alignment to minimize wildlife impacts.
