Assistant City Manager Roberta Cosentino told council that the city completed about 1,800 rental inspections in 2025 and that inspection activity has trended upward since May 2024. She said permit activity is seasonally lower for winter and reminded property owners about the 24-hour sidewalk shoveling requirement for snow.
Cosentino provided project updates: Ash Park construction continues despite cold weather with vertical structures rising and progress meeting expectations. The Millview Basin stormwater project is close to closeout; Cosentino said the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) recently inspected the basin after staff turnover at DEP prompted a fresh review and that the city expects the inspection report in the next few weeks. She said engineers, county staff and DEP inspectors conducted a walkthrough and that the inspection should not yield unexpected outcomes.
Cosentino also noted the city’s third annual ACE forum drew about 120 attendees and that a short video will be shared online to publicize the event.
