Butler County engineer reports 65 flood‑affected locations, Greene bridge concrete pour planned

Riherd said a FEMA damage assessment submitted after last month’s flooding identified 65 locations that "required attention during the flooding." He said concrete will be poured this week for the Greene bridge but that officials advised the city not to open the structure to traffic before Greene River Days.
Riherd described ongoing planning and coordination: he has discussed New Hartford flooding with Dan Gillis and said a study is underway to evaluate better flood management there. He said he has met with the City of Shell Rock and with the railroad to continue discussions on a project that may be eligible for grant funding. Riherd also reported meeting with the City of Dumont about replacing County Road T16; he said the county’s share would be about 70 percent, which could leave a significant cost burden for the city given T16’s width and function.
The engineer’s update focused on immediate flood repairs and project coordination with neighboring cities and rail partners. The board did not take separate formal action on these items during the meeting; they were presented as operational updates.
