Butler County approves OmniTel and Dumont Telephone fiber permits; engineer reports progress on T-13

The Butler County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved two utility permits at its July 16 meeting: one for OmniTel to install fiber service to 10664 Keystone Ave and another for Dumont Telephone to carry out fiber network improvements in rural Aplington and Austinville. Engineer John Riherd recommended the OmniTel permit and outlined Dumont Telephone’s project maps to the board.
Riherd also provided an engineer’s update, reporting that construction continues on county road T-13, rock is being hauled efficiently, and staff are seeking to order new trucks and other equipment to support operations. The board approved both permits by motion: the OmniTel permit was moved by Greg Barnett and seconded by Rusty Eddy; the Dumont Telephone permit was moved by Rusty Eddy and seconded by Greg Barnett. Both motions passed with all ayes.
Maps detailing the Dumont Telephone improvements were provided to the board during the presentation. No public opposition or further debate on the permits was recorded in the minutes.
