Butler County supervisors approve permits, certifications and claims; proclamation deferred
Summary
At its Sept. 10 meeting the Butler County Board of Supervisors tabled a proclamation on Crisis Intervention Month, directed staff to seek RFPs for county insurance options, and approved a fireworks display application, a REAP certification, a utility permit for fiber, and county claims.
Chairman Wayne Dralle called the Butler County Board of Supervisors to order at 9:00 a.m. Sept. 10 and, on a motion by Supervisor Greg Barnett seconded by Rusty Eddy, the board approved the meeting agenda.
The session was brief and largely procedural: the board approved the minutes of the prior meeting, recorded that no public comment was received, and postponed a proclamation declaring October as Crisis Intervention Month to the following week after a motion by Barnett and second by Eddy.
Amy Shepard, HR/Finance Deputy, told the board the county is reviewing insurance options with multiple brokers and directed staff to issue requests for proposals to evaluate alternatives.
The board approved an Application for Display of Fireworks in unincorporated Butler County after a motion from Rusty Eddy and second from Greg Barnett. Butler County Auditor Leslie Groen then presented the County Conservation REAP certification report, which the board approved on a motion by Barnett and second by Eddy.
Thomas Hoodjer of the Engineer’s Office presented and the board approved a utility permit from Dumont Telephone to install fiber in the Parkersburg and Stout areas. Hoodjer also provided a routine engineer’s update, saying rock was still being hauled, crews were mowing, Orchid Lane was being cleaned up and an intersection widened, and beams from the Unverferth bridge had been relocated to new bridge sites.
The board approved county claims on a motion by Barnett, seconded by Eddy, and Chairman Dralle moved to adjourn at 9:21 a.m.; the motion carried and the board set its next regular meeting for Sept. 17, 2024, at 9:00 a.m.
