The Spencer County Fiscal Court approved a $25,000 payment Sept. 4 to the Spencer County Sanitation District as an option toward acquiring the Top Flight wastewater treatment plant.
According to the post-executive-session minutes, the court met in closed session under KRS 61.810 and then returned to open session, where members voted unanimously to authorize the $25,000 option payment with the balance to be paid contingent on satisfactory land appraisals and necessary budget transfers. The motion to approve the option payment was moved by Esq. Cotton and seconded by Esq. Stump.
The minutes state the payment is described as "$25,000 to the Spencer County Sanitation District for an option to purchase the Top Flight wastewater treatment plant with the balance to be paid contingent upon appraisals and to make the necessary transfers to the SCSD line item." The motion passed by unanimous vote at approximately 12:06 p.m. and the meeting adjourned shortly thereafter.
What happens next: The court’s action authorizes transfers and payments contingent on appraisals; staff are to coordinate transfers to the SCSD line item and complete any required documentation. The minutes indicate that appraisals are pending and the final purchase decision depends on those valuations and any additional approvals or funding steps.
