Spencer County Fiscal Court voted Dec. 2 to approve two zoning ordinance changes recommended by the Planning Commission.
On motions brought forward during the meeting, the court approved a zoning change for Goodlett Holdings, LLC and Jewell's Farms, LLC to rezone two tracts (Tract 2A, 5.014 acres; Tract 2B, 5.037 acres) at the corner of Hickory Ridge and Patton Lane from AG-1 to AG-2, and approved a rezoning for Mark Barnett of a 5.3301-acre tract at 4455 Taylorsville Road from AG-1 to AG-2. Julie Sweazy, the county zoning official, said both actions were based on the Planning Commission’s findings of fact.
Esq. Eldridge moved the approval of the Goodlett/Jewell's application and Esq. Cotton seconded; Esq. Travis moved the Barnett rezoning and Esq. Stump seconded. Both motions were recorded as approved on second reading with the court voting "Aye" on each motion.
The zoning approvals were presented as routine, with the court citing the Planning Commission recommendation. No amendments or conditions were stated on the record at the meeting. The court packet includes the formal ordinance notices and the signed attestations by Clerk Lynn Hesselbrock and Judge-Executive Scott Travis.
The county’s zoning officer said the items returned from second reading after the commission’s recommendation; the court did not identify any additional requirements or appeals at the meeting. The approvals mean the parcels will now be classified AG-2 under county zoning and can be treated according to that classification in subsequent permitting or development reviews.
The court’s next scheduled meeting and a special meeting on Dec. 5 were noted by the Judge-Executive for follow-up items, including backhoe bid decisions tied to ongoing county maintenance and public-works planning.
