The Simpson County Fiscal Court on July 16 authorized a memorandum of agreement with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet to resurface Evans Road (CR 1040), approving Resolution 2024‑07‑16EVANSRD and authorizing Judge/Executive Mason Barnes to sign the agreement.
Magistrate Scott Poston moved to adopt the resolution and Magistrate Jeffrey Burr seconded; the motion carried unanimously. The project is described in the resolution as resurfacing Evans Road from milepoint 0.00 southerly to the end of county maintenance for approximately 1.098 miles, with reimbursable funds available up to $77,000 from the Transportation Cabinet.
County officials said the agreement will be executed through the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s standard MOA for county resurfacing projects and that the Judge/Executive will sign the necessary documents. The court also authorized entering into the Memorandum of Agreement to accept up to $77,000 in reimbursable funds for the stated project (motion by Myron Thurman, second by Scott Poston; carried unanimously).
The resolution and MOA are limited to the scope described in the minutes and the court voted to authorize the formal execution; no construction schedule or contractor was recorded in the minutes.
