Simpson County Fiscal Court on Dec. 17 approved a set of routine but consequential financial items, including a sheriff’s revenue bond, an interfund cash transfer and multiple budget adjustments.
The court approved Sheriff Jere Dee Hopson’s $50,000 revenue bond (No. 82C231572) for the 1/3/2025–1/3/2026 term as required under KRS 134.230. Magistrate Marty Chandler moved the bond’s approval; Magistrate Jeffrey Burr seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
The court also approved a $100,066 cash transfer from the General Fund to the Jail Fund and a package of budget transfers reallocating line‑item amounts across departments. Those transfers were moved and seconded in the record and carried as presented.
Clerks, payroll and vendor claims were reviewed and approved in a roll call covering dozens of line items and vendors listed in the minutes, including payroll totals and invoices for county services and contractors. The court approved the November financial statement, subject to audit, and authorized signatures by Judge Executive Mason Barnes and Treasurer Nicole Law.
Judge Executive Barnes summarized the surplus auction results (total proceeds $111,156.54) and provided departmental breakdowns; he noted final Fire and Jail totals may change pending sale of specific equipment. No additional appropriations were recorded at the meeting.
Formal motions and votes for these items are recorded in the court minutes; the minutes show motions, seconds and affirmative votes for the actions noted.
