The Fleming County Fiscal Court on Aug. 8 approved the Fleming County Sheriff’s July 2023 report and noted the sheriff’s request for an additional $50,000 from Program Support 01-5015-348.
Dispatch Center Director Charlotte Benton gave the monthly report, said the center has applicants under review and testing, and observed that Dispatch Center Telecommunicator Jon Kerley died in July; Benton said he will be missed. Benton also reported that three current wrecker service providers had not provided the required certificates of insurance, a matter the court discussed.
The court later approved the Dispatch Center’s requested services for July by unanimous vote. The minutes record the sheriff’s funding request; the minutes do not record further detail about action on that funding request beyond the request being entered into the record.
The court’s unanimous approval of the sheriff’s and dispatch reports and the recorded funding request leaves the sheriff’s $50,000 request as an identified need on the record; any appropriation beyond the recorded request would require a separate formal action.
