At its Sept. 12 meeting the Fleming County Fiscal Court approved the Dispatch Center's requests for services and authorized hiring to fill one full‑time telecommunicator position and one fill‑in telecommunicator. Dispatch Director Charlotte Benton also requested an electrician to check the connection to the emergency generator; the court recorded the related approvals as unanimous.
The court formally clarified that dispatch employees are considered Fleming County Fiscal Court employees and will receive the same benefits as other county employees; that clarification was approved unanimously.
The court approved up to $3,000 for the purchase and installation of a new office server. It also approved a motion to seek sealed bids for a used tractor with a boom mower attachment.
Magistrate Kerri Moran recommended appointing Michael Gray to serve the unexpired term of Chip Spann, with the term to expire Feb. 17, 2024; the court approved the appointment unanimously (moved by Richie Kielman, seconded by Donnie Fawns).
RJ Palmer of Compass Municipal Advisors was present to discuss the pros and cons of industrial revenue bonds and PILOT agreements, and Fleming County Public Library Director Wendy Johnston updated the court on library programs and events.
