County approves multiple budget amendments, including school transportation and capital fund reallocations

Director of Accounts Sandrine Batts presented General Fund amendments totaling line‑item changes including $29,225.35 for the Sheriff’s Department; $16,000 for Veterans’ Service; $1,510 for the County Clerk’s Office; $27.25 for South Cheatham Library; $7,580 for EMS; and $2,643.52 for Animal Control. The Budget Committee recommended the amendments and the commission approved them by roll‑call vote.
The Education Committee recommended and the commission approved a $103,400 transportation amendment for the General Purpose School Fund. Commissioners also approved reassignment of designated funding in the Education Capital Projects Fund, including a specific amendment moving $60,000 from a Stadium Roof Repair line item into a general Roof Repair line item. The Education and school board votes were recorded in the minutes with roll‑call tallies.
Separately, the Budget Committee recommended a Highway/Public Works Fund amendment of $941.11 (funded by a reimbursement from the General Purpose School Fund), and the commission approved an allocation of $25,000 to Drug Enforcement from the Drug Control Fund balance. All budget motions recorded roll‑call approval.
