Summary
The Cheatham County Legislative Body authorized a package of mayoral contracts and selected HFR Design to begin jail design negotiations after receiving eight RFPs; the contract package and architect authorization passed unanimously Sept. 16.
The Cheatham County Legislative Body on Sept. 16 authorized County Mayor Kerry McCarver to sign a package of contracts and agreements and approved beginning jail design negotiations with HFR Design of Brentwood.
The commission voted 12–0 to approve the mayor’s signature on eight items including the Tennessee Health Contract 2019–20; a movie location agreement; a Department of Mental Health substance-abuse services contract for adult criminal misdemeanor defendants 2019–20; renewal of Data Works Plus maintenance for fingerprinting; EMS Stryker maintenance for ambulances; an amendment to the Subway lease; a Pleasant View Fire Department lease for 2019–20; and an amendment to a GNRC planning contract for ADA compliance and TDOT submission. County Mayor Kerry McCarver presented the package; Ms. Diana Pike Lovell moved and Mr. Tim Williamson seconded the motion.
On the jail project, McCarver said the mayor’s office solicited requests for proposals and eight firms responded. The Jail Committee reviewed bids and made onsite visits; the committee recommended HFR Design of Brentwood. The commission authorized the mayor to negotiate a design contract with HFR Design by roll-call vote 12–0.
The actions clear the way for contract execution and initial design work on the county jail; the commission did not set contract terms or a budget ceiling at the Sept. 16 meeting. The county clerk recorded the votes as part of Resolution 11 (contract package) and Resolution 12 (architect negotiation).
