County approves budget amendments, asset surplus and routine business; announces events
Summary
The Cheatham County Legislative Body approved several budget amendments, authorized surplus of a Litter Patrol vehicle, approved notary applicants, and recorded departmental reports and upcoming events.
Cheatham County commissioners approved Budget Committee recommendations and other routine business at their Jan. 28, 2019 session.
Director of Accounts Sandrine Batts presented recommended amendments to the County General Fund, with listed line items including small increases for the jail, multiple library accounts, the sheriff’s office ($19,177.45), animal control ($10,000), and sanitation education. The body recorded the committee vote (4–0–1) and approved the amendments by roll call, 12–0.
The Highway/Public Works Fund received an Other Charges amendment of $1,220.82, funded by a General Purpose School Fund reimbursement; that amendment passed 12–0. The body also approved the surplus and sale proceeds for a 2005 Ford XL 250 (VIN 1FTZW20576EC36739, mileage 211,000) from the Litter Patrol department. Budget committee motions reported committee votes; legislative roll calls confirmed approval.
On the consent calendar, commissioners approved a slate of notary public applicants on a voice vote. County Clerk Teresa Gupton noted the 2019 road list and Caroline Hunter’s oath for Circuit Court was filed in the clerk’s office. Director of Schools Dr. Cathy Beck reported the State of the District and noted safe school entrance work is near completion; Pegram Elementary will host a presentation on Jan. 29 on becoming a fine arts magnet school.
The meeting closed after announcements about a jail tour on Feb. 12 and County Government Day on March 4.
