Commissioners approve Sycamore Square upgrades, contracts and authorizations including up to $90,000 in additional funding

Cheatham County’s legislative body approved a package of contracts, capital improvements and funding moves tied to Sycamore Square and other county facilities during its Jan. 28, 2019 meeting.
County Mayor Kerry McCarver reported a FEMA account balance of $25,647.32 and briefed the body on Sycamore Square, noting the planned build‑out carries a one‑year warranty. The body approved multiple items tied to Sycamore Square and county operations, including TDOT funds for acquisition of property on Highway 49 related to Sycamore Square and the library, and a GNRC professional services contract for TDOT grant application support. A motion by Diana Pike Lovell, seconded by David Anderson, to approve those items passed 12–0 by roll call.
Capital Improvements funds were approved for specific Sycamore Square outfitting: $450 for an L‑shaped counter for the Drivers License Station; $8,200 for 10 workstations with locked cash drawers and file drawers in the County Clerk’s Office; $22,000 for security cameras; and $32,178 for six additional parking lot islands. That package was approved on a roll call vote of 12–0. The legislative body also authorized the mayor to enter negotiations with the Town of Ashland City to sell a portion of A.O. Smith Park (motion by Randy Liles, seconded by Eugene O. Evans Sr.), approved by roll call 12–0.
Separately, the body approved a consultant services agreement with Organizational Management Group to conduct a salary study (voice vote). The minutes record approval of a motion to provide additional funding for the Sycamore Square renovation, not to exceed $90,000, prior to the sale of the Tucker Emspon Building (motion by Tim Williamson, seconded by David Anderson); roll call was 12–0.
