Cheatham County commissioners approved a series of budget amendments and authorized the county to borrow funds to finance a Highway Department facility during the Oct. 19 regular meeting.The Budget Committee presented multiple amendments that the full legislative body approved by roll call. County General Fund adjustments included transfers and miscellaneous items for operating needs. The committee authorized a $200,000 transfer from the General Purpose School Fund to the Central Cafeteria Fund to cover free lunches through December; the motion was later amended on the floor to specify that the reimbursement will be placed back into the fund balance. The School Board vote on its item is recorded as 6 Yes, 0 No.The Highway/Public Works Fund received amendments to Capital Outlay ($13,448.33) and Transfers Out ($143,044.44); the General Capital Projects Fund accepted a $143,044.44 reimbursement from the Highway Fund for highway and street capital projects. The Other Capital Projects — Vehicles Fund was amended with $34,566.15 for general government projects funded by insurance recovery.The commission also authorized Cheatham County to borrow and incur indebtedness not to exceed $2,700,000 to provide funding for construction of a Highway Department facility, and approved execution and delivery of a loan agreement in an amount not to exceed $2,700,000.
