Cheatham County approves mayoral contracts, office relocations and Sycamore Square improvements

Cheatham County commissioners on Aug. 17 approved a slate of contracts and facility changes presented by County Mayor Kerry McCarver.
McCarver asked the legislative body to authorize the county’s signature on four agreements: maintenance for the jail’s tankless water heaters with Lee Company; a laundry dispensing equipment agreement; a maintenance renewal with Data Works Plus; and a renovation contract with Wright Construction for work at the Tucker Empson Building. Commissioners approved the motion by roll-call vote, 12–0.
The commission also authorized relocating the Veterans Service Office to a standalone storefront at Sycamore Square. The accounting office will move into the current Veterans Service Office space, and Juvenile Probation will move to the current accounting office, all as part of the same set of allocations approved by the commission. That relocation motion passed by roll-call vote, 12–0.
Commissioners additionally approved planning and bidding to add a bathroom at the Sycamore Square government office building. The motion to proceed with planning and bidding was approved by roll-call vote, 12–0.
McCarver announced a swearing-in ceremony scheduled for Aug. 31 at 6 p.m. in the courthouse courtroom in Ashland City.
The votes were recorded in the legislative minutes as Resolutions 4, 5 and 6. No public objections or extended debate on the contracts or relocations were recorded in the minutes.
