Commission approves mayoral contracts and authorizes Highway Garage bid; rescission resolution referred to Road & Bridge Committee
Summary
County commissioners approved a package of mayoral contracts (detention services, leases, TDOT grants, health department contract, VOCA amendment, engineering services) and authorized bidding for a new Highway Garage. Commissioner Walter Weakley circulated a resolution to rescind the earlier Highway Garage authorization; the Road and Bridge Committee will review it July 9.
At the June 29 meeting, Cheatham County commissioners approved a package of agreements recommended by County Mayor Kerry McCarver and authorized the procurement process for a Highway Garage and office.
The mayor’s signature package approved by roll-call (12–0) included a contract with Madison Detention for juvenile services, a lease agreement with No Limit Fitness, purchase-related contract language with the Town of Ashland City for property off Tennessee Waltz Parkway, TDOT trash and litter grant agreements, the Cheatham County Health Department annual contract, a VOCA VWV Amendment 1 extension (FY 2023) and an agreement with Rufus Johnson Associates for engineering services at the Tucker Empson Building.
Separately, in Unfinished Business the commission authorized bidding for the Highway Garage and office (motion by Tim Williamson, seconded by Eugene O. Evans, Sr.; approved 12–0). Commissioner Walter Weakley subsequently distributed a proposed resolution seeking to rescind Resolution #5 (May 18, 2020); the Road and Bridge Committee was scheduled to meet July 9 at 4:30 P.M. to review that rescission resolution.
