Cheatham County emergency director reports preliminary tornado damage; commission recognizes longtime animal-control volunteer

During the Dec. 20 meeting Emergency Management Director Edwin Hogan provided a preliminary assessment of damage from the Dec. 11 tornado that struck Highway 70 and thanked responding agencies including the Sheriff's Department, EMS, Highway Department, Dickson Electric, Kingston Springs Fire, Pegram Fire and Dickson EMS for assisting affected residents. Hogan asked residents impacted by the tornado to keep rights-of-way clear so utility crews could restore power and water.
Separately, commissioners approved a recognition for Don Moser in appreciation of his volunteer work with Cheatham County Animal Control, citing hundreds of volunteer hours walking dogs, transporting animals to veterinary appointments and rescues, and continuing education in animal welfare and handling. The recognition was approved by voice vote.
Next steps: Emergency Management will continue damage assessment and coordinate with utilities and mutual-aid partners to restore services; the county noted the volunteer recognition in its official minutes.
