Cheatham County elects Donnie Jordan chair, approves redistricting committee and trial consolidated meeting schedule

At its Sept. 20 meeting the Cheatham County Legislative Body elected Donnie Jordan chair and Tim Williamson pro tem, approved a six-member redistricting committee (chair-appointed plus county mayor), and authorized a three‑month trial to combine committee meetings into one monthly meeting.
The Cheatham County Legislative Body elected Commissioner Donnie Jordan chairman for the fiscal year Sept. 1, 2021–Aug. 31, 2022 and chose Tim Williamson as chairman pro tem at its Sept. 20 meeting in Ashland City.
David Anderson moved to nominate Jordan; Diana Pike Lovell seconded the motion, which the commission approved by acclamation. Ed Greer moved to nominate Williamson as pro tem; David Anderson seconded and the motion passed by acclamation.
Commissioners also voted to create a redistricting committee consisting of six members appointed by the chairman, plus the county mayor. The body approved a separate motion to combine all committee meetings into one meeting to be held on the second Monday of each month on a three‑month trial basis, with October’s meeting moved to Tuesday Oct. 12 because of Columbus Day.
Supporters said the consolidated schedule is intended as an efficiency measure. The motions passed on roll call 8–0 with four commissioners absent. Chairman Jordan asked Tim Williamson and Commissioner Chris Gilmore to revisit the Harpeth Middle School drainage project at the next meeting after debate there did not yield a majority to fund the work.
The meeting opened at 6:00 p.m. and adjourned at 7:18 p.m.
