The Cocke County Legislative Body on July 21 approved several routine administrative items, including contract renewals, rental agreements and the acceptance of quarterly and annual reports.
Contracts and agreements: On a motion by Billy Hudson, seconded by Jason McMahan, the board approved the renewal and amendment of a Health Services Agreement between QCHC of Tennessee, PLLC and Cocke County. The motion carried by recorded vote.
Facilities and rentals: The board approved a rental agreement for the Cocke County Sheriff's Office Detectives Unit (motion by Bill Miller, seconded by Dan Bright) and a separate rental agreement for the County Clerk's Office to house county archives (motion by Dan Bright, seconded by Jeff Eslinger); both motions carried.
Administrative approvals: The board approved a slate of new and renewal notaries and their surety companies on a motion by Bill Miller (seconded by Billy Hudson). The board also accepted the Circuit Court quarterly report (motion by Jeff Eslinger) and a series of annual reports from county offices on a motion by Wilma Ball; both motions carried.
Other notes: County Mayor Rob Mathis told the board there will be a joint commemoration on Sept. 26, 2025 marking the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Helene involving Cocke County Government, the City of Newport, the Cocke County Sheriff's Office and the Cocke County Partnership. The meeting adjourned after the listed business.
