Cheatham County’s Legislative Body approved several fiscal items on Aug. 16, 2021, including budget amendments across county departments, a capital financing measure for school playgrounds, and facility repairs at Sycamore Square.
Director of Accounts Sandrine Batts presented recommended budget amendments moving funds to county buildings, emergency medical services, rabies/animal control, sheriff operations, circuit court payroll corrections and victim services. Commissioners approved the amendments by roll-call vote; the meeting record lists the funding lines and amounts in the resolution packet.
The Board voted to remove language from a June 29, 2020, resolution and to disburse the remainder of funds allocated to the Chamber of Commerce; that motion passed 11-1 on roll call.
For capital projects, commissioners authorized a three-year capital outlay note not to exceed $870,000 to fund districtwide elementary and middle school playground equipment; the School Board recommended the action and the county vote was unanimous in the record. The resolution sets terms consistent with Tennessee law and notes the expected economic life of the equipment.
Commissioners also approved a $166,733 contract to replace a roof at Sycamore Square (between Food Lion and Tractor Supply), using Sycamore Square reserves as the funding source.
All motions were recorded in roll-call form in the meeting packet. County officials asked Calendar & Rules to draft guidelines for future Hotel/Motel tax disbursements.
