Sevier County steering committee appoints judicial commissioners, approves Aug. 21 agenda

The Sevier County Board of Commissioners steering committee met Aug. 14, 2023. Commissioner Ogle called the meeting to order at 5:03 p.m., and the panel unanimously approved Resolution 2023-08-01 appointing judicial commissioners for Sevier County.
Commissioner Ogle and Mayor Waters presented Resolution 2023-08-01. Commissioner Rauhuff moved to approve the resolution and Commissioner Foster seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
During the public-comment portion, Carol Abrams urged more community members to vote, saying maturity and freedom are gifts from God and that she had attended a Patriot Freedom event in Kodak. Abrams is registered to address the full Board of Commissioners at the Aug. 21, 2023 meeting.
Vice Mayor McCarter presented the final Aug. 21 board agenda for approval. Commissioner Pitner moved to approve the agenda; Commissioner Ogle seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Commissioner Allen moved to adjourn and the meeting ended at 5:14 p.m. The board recorded attendance for seven commissioners and listed staff including Assistant County Mayor and Senior Director Matt Rudder, Director of Grants and Special Projects Andrew Temple, and Director of Public Affairs and Communications Tyler Basler.
The steering committee did not record further debate or contested votes; the resolution and agenda approvals were passed by unanimous voice vote. The full Board of Commissioners is scheduled to meet on Aug. 21, 2023.
