Vice Mayor Bryan McCarter told the Sevier County Solid Waste Special Committee on Aug. 21, 2023, that he had spoken with the family owning a proposed Pigeon Forge/Wears Valley convenience-center site and that the family was willing to enter a 45-day good-faith contract if the county wished to pursue the land.
Commissioner Warren Hurst and Commissioner Ronnie Whaley said the current Pigeon Forge convenience-center site needs to move but cautioned that relocating to the offered property could create future problems. After discussion, the committee asked Vice Mayor Bryan McCarter to call the family to thank them for the offer and to begin negotiations, but indicated the county is not interested in acquiring that specific property at this time.
Following that direction, Commissioner Warren Hurst moved to adjourn the special committee meeting; Commissioner Kent Woods seconded the motion. The meeting adjourned at 5:15 PM.
No formal acquisition, vote to pursue the property, or contract was authorized during the meeting.
