Commissioner Bryan Delius elected chair; mayor says search will start for new E911 director

Commissioner Bryan Delius was elected chairman of the Sevier County Board of Commissioners' Emergency Services Committee at the committee's Oct. 5 meeting, and Mayor Larry Waters said the county will begin a search for a new Sevier County Central Dispatch (E911) director following the prior director's suspension.
The committee convened at 6:03 p.m. Commissioner Jack Parton nominated Commissioner Bryan Delius for chairman, Commissioner Tommy Watts seconded the nomination, and the motion passed unanimously.
Mayor Larry Waters updated the committee on Sevier County Central Dispatch E911, saying Emergency Management Agency Director Joe Ayers and Misty McGill have been filling the director role since the previous director was suspended and that the hiring process "should start in the next few weeks." The mayor and department leaders also discussed staffing challenges among emergency-service agencies in neighboring counties, according to the meeting record.
Chief David Puckett delivered the monthly report for the Department of Fire Response and Prevention/Sevier County Fire/Rescue. Director Rick Valentine presented the Sevier County Ambulance Service monthly report and said he has been in contact with Saber regarding that agency's recent leadership change. Director Joe Brown delivered the monthly report for the Sevier County Juvenile Detention Center.
Dustin Sutton reported that the Sevier County Rescue Squad is replacing the roof on its building. Emergency Management Agency Director Joe Ayers presented his agency's monthly report. Chief Deputy Nathan Carr presented the Sevier County Sheriff's Office monthly report.
Commissioner Ray Ogle moved to adjourn the meeting; Commissioner Tommy Watts seconded and the committee adjourned at 6:47 p.m.
