FRANKLIN COUNTY — The Franklin County Board of Commissioners Legislative Committee voted Sept. 6 to ask the county attorney to prepare a 'Broadband Ready Communities' ordinance and send the finished language to the full commission for consideration.
Mayor David Alexander introduced a draft of the ordinance and said, "This ordinance states that our county will be a Broadband Ready community. This ordinance will help in the grant process." Following the introduction, Commissioner Chuck Stines moved that the county attorney prepare the ordinance and forward it to the full commission; Commissioner David Eldridge seconded. The committee voted unanimously to refer the ordinance language to the county attorney and then to the full commission.
The vote came during a short session of routine business. Earlier in the meeting the committee approved the July 5, 2018 minutes on a motion by Stines, seconded by Eldridge, and voted unanimously. The committee also approved a motion by Eldridge, seconded by Stapleton, to forward 24 notary applications to the full commission. The meeting opened at 6:00 p.m. and adjourned at 6:30 p.m.
