Franklin County legislative committee forwards multiple resolutions and 18 notary applications to full commission
Summary
On March 7, 2019 the Franklin County Legislative Committee approved the Jan. 3 minutes and unanimously voted to forward several resolutions — including opposing education vouchers, establishing term limits for a solid waste authority seat and a bridge-naming request — and to send 18 notary applications to the full commission before adjourning.
The Franklin County Board of Commissioners Legislative Committee met March 7, 2019, in Conference Room 204 at the courthouse and voted unanimously to forward several items to the full commission.
Commissioner Carolyn Montoye-Wiseman moved to approve the Jan. 3, 2019 minutes; Commissioner Barbara Finney seconded and the motion carried with all ayes. The committee then approved a series of motions to send items to the full commission.
Commissioner Barbara Finney moved, and Commissioner Montoye-Wiseman seconded, to forward a "Resolution Opposing Education Voucher Legislation" to the full commission; the committee approved the referral unanimously. Finney also moved to forward a resolution establishing term limits for a board position with the Interlocal Solid Waste Authority; Montoye-Wiseman seconded and the motion passed with all ayes.
Montoye-Wiseman moved to forward a resolution requesting the State of Tennessee rename the Lee Ford Bridge on TN Highway 130 to the "Kenneth Parker Shasteen Bridge." Finney seconded and the committee voted unanimously to send the naming request to the full commission.
The committee voted to send eighteen notary applications to the full commission after a motion by Finney and a second by Montoye-Wiseman. The body also approved forwarding an amendment to Resolution #H2-0909 (adopted Sept. 21, 2009), which established an Emergency Services Board; Montoye-Wiseman moved and Finney seconded that motion.
Mayor Alexander, Secretary Heather Morgan and Buck Gorrell (WCDT) were listed as present. The meeting was adjourned at 6:25 p.m. Respectfully submitted in the minutes by David Eldridge; the minutes include a notation that they were approved on April 4, 2019.
