Franklin County commissioners accepted a resignation from the Franklin County Board of Education and made several administrative appointments during the Aug. 29 special session.
The commission accepted a letter of resignation from Chris Guess, effective Aug. 26, 2022, and recorded acceptance by voice vote. The meeting packet included the written resignation.
Judge Thomas Faris had recommended the appointment of Jason Wall Curtis as a full-time judicial commissioner; the commission approved that appointment by voice vote and authorized the county to complete internal hiring steps. The minutes record the appointment without roll-call tally, noting the vote as unanimous by voice.
On board appointments, the commission appointed Barbara Finney to the Industrial Development Board by voice vote. The commission also moved to fill a vacancy on the School Board temporarily until November and approved Bruce Shaw to fill the District 4 seat by voice vote, with the minutes recording a 15-1 voice approval for the temporary school-board appointment.
County and education officials said the temporary school-board appointment will remain in effect until the November election or the next scheduled action by the Board of Commissioners.
