At its Aug. 18 meeting, the Cumberland County Commission approved a series of administrative appointments and routine actions.
By unanimous voice votes the commission reappointed Valorie Douglas and Christy Dolinich to the Crossville-Cumberland Convention and Visitors' Bureau (terms to Aug. 31, 2028), reappointed Casey Cox and Gary Adams to the Cumberland County E-911 Emergency Communications District Board (terms to Aug. 29, 2029), and reappointed John Stubbs to the Cumberland County Regional Planning Commission (term to Aug. 31, 2029). The commission also appointed Michaela Smith as a Judicial Commissioner for a two-year term and Joseph Moody for a six-month term, and appointed Linda Weis to fill the remaining Library Board term of Kaye Randolph to expire June 30, 2027.
Commissioners elected a slate of notaries public for the State of Tennessee (list recorded in the meeting minutes). Finance Director Jennifer Turner reported the finance department is finalizing closeout work for the prior fiscal year and had no new numbers to present. County Attorney Philip Burnett reported one lawsuit filed in July involving an inmate alleging the jail is unsafe for that inmate; the minutes provide no further details about the case.
A separate administrative proposal — to add fees associated with plat applications and other planning requests — failed on a roll-call vote (seven ayes, eight nays). The meeting adjourned at 6:17 P.M.
Next steps: the minutes list the appointments and the failed fee change; no additional implementation dates or follow-up reports are specified.
