The Dickson County Commission on Jan. 17 accepted the county's 2023 Road Report, approved renaming a local road and set a 35-mph speed limit on a rural county road in unanimous voice votes.
Commissioner Becky Spicer moved to accept the 2023 Dickson County Road Report; Commissioner Jody Britt seconded the motion, which passed by a unanimous aye voice vote. The report was presented as the county's annual road status and planning summary for 2023.
Spicer also sponsored a resolution to rename a road described in the motion as the county road running from Dug Hill Road to Spencer Mill Road. The commission approved changing the name from Old Spencer Road to Old Spencer Mill Road after a second from Commissioner Carl Buckner.
On a separate resolution, Commissioner Dwight McIlwain moved, and Commissioner Cindi Gray seconded, to set the speed limit on Firetower Road at 35 miles per hour. The motion specified the road segment as running from the Humphreys County line to Gilliam Road and passed by unanimous voice vote.
All three measures recorded as passed were recorded in the meeting minutes as unanimous aye voice votes. The commission gave no further public debate on the items during the meeting and did not record any roll-call vote totals in the minutes beyond the unanimous voice approval.
The commission's next regular session is scheduled for Feb. 21, 2023.
