Dickson County Commission unanimously approves FBI MOU, $2 e-filing fee and I-40 improvements

The Dickson County Commission on Oct. 21 unanimously approved three resolutions that the county said will expand law-enforcement coordination, set a small electronic filing fee and authorize a transportation contract.
County Mayor and Chairman Bob Rial convened the meeting at 7:00 P.M. in the Buford L. (Booty) Reed Jr. County Commission Chamber. Commissioner Ray Ledger moved the first resolution (10-2024-01) authorizing the Dickson County Sheriff's Office to enter a memorandum of understanding with the Federal Bureau of Investigation so the DCSO may participate in the Memphis Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force; Commissioner Mike Petty seconded. The motion passed by a unanimous aye voice vote.
Commissioner Stacey Batey moved Resolution 10-2024-02 to authorize a two-dollar ($2.00) filing fee for documents filed electronically in the Register of Deeds' Office; Commissioner Randy Simpkins seconded. The commission approved the fee by unanimous voice vote. The resolution implements a fixed $2 e-filing fee; the transcript does not specify an effective date beyond the resolution's approval.
Commissioner Ledger then moved Resolution 10-2024-03 authorizing the county to enter an agreement with the Tennessee Department of Transportation for construction and installation of improvements in the vicinity of the intersection of Tennessee State Route 48 and Exit 163 on Interstate I-40. Commissioner Carl Buckner seconded; the motion passed by unanimous voice vote.
The commission also approved the minutes from its Sept. 16, 2024 meeting on a motion by Commissioner Mike Petty with a second from Commissioner Dwight McIllwain, and accepted a slate of notaries on a motion by Commissioner Stacey Batey seconded by Commissioner Dwight McIllwain. Both motions passed by unanimous aye voice votes.
Announcements during the meeting included a Tennessee City fish fry scheduled for Oct. 26, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. and notice that the next regular session will be held Nov. 18, 2024 at 7:00 P.M. in the same chamber. A motion to adjourn carried unanimously and the meeting ended at 7:11 P.M.
