The Claiborne County Commission on March 21 adopted Resolution 2022-046 to rescind earlier approval of approximately $2,500 in American Rescue Plan essential-pay funds for the Clerk & Master (Patricia Simmons) following guidance from the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury.
Commissioner Kim Large moved the rescission and Commissioner Nicholas Epperson seconded. The resolution states the Clerk & Master advised she would prefer to reimburse the funds and that the Comptroller determined the receipt of the COVID-19 relief funds would require payment to all county officials. The motion carried by roll call vote 20-0.
The resolution requests reimbursement if the funds have already been paid and directs that the rescission take effect immediately.
