Commission tables Simmons Road for site review and begins comprehensive plan updates
Summary
The commission tabled action on Simmons Road to allow a site visit and committee review, and the Comprehensive Plan Committee began updating the next section with proposed GIS/IT additions and coordination on water and sewer projects.
At its July 14 meeting the Tazewell County Planning Commission tabled decisions on Simmons Road to give the road committee time for a site visit and to prepare recommendations. Director of County Engineering Kenneth Dunford, Jr. recommended tabling; Member Jason Herndon moved to table the matter until the August 11 meeting and the motion passed 4–0.
Separately, the Comprehensive Plan Committee met at 5:30 p.m. to start updating the next section of the county’s comprehensive plan. Director Dunford reviewed highlights and proposed adding sections on geographic information systems (GIS) and information technology, and suggested involving the PSA in planning for water and sewer projects.
Director Dunford reported there was nothing further to present in his engineering report. No citizen comments or member concerns were recorded. Assistant Chair Moss moved to adjourn at approximately 7:23 p.m.; Member Herndon seconded and the meeting adjourned 4–0.
