Tazewell County CPMT to update procedures for private provider representative; completes governance self-assessment work

The CPMT reviewed the CSA governance self-assessment and found the Local Policy and Procedure Manual lacks a process for selecting a private provider representative; members agreed wording edits and asked the coordinator to present the revised manual Oct. 24, 2022.
The Tazewell County Community Policy and Management Team reviewed portions of the Office of Children’s Services (OCS) Self-Assessment Workbook and identified a gap in local policy over selection of a private provider representative to serve on FAPT and CPMT.
The coordinator noted the current local manual does not include the process for selecting a private provider representative and read the manual text describing the intended approach: "The private provider position is open by invitation to all local private providers. The person(s) to serve on both committees must meet the qualified administrative requirements needed to sit on these teams such as clinical experience, counselor, licensed professional, etc. One private provider if at all possible shall be selected to serve a two-year term. However due to the rural location of Tazewell County and limited number of available private providers, there may be occasions when the two-year term extends more than two years if there are no new providers who are available to fulfill the attendance requirements." Members agreed on wording and asked the coordinator to update the Local Policy and Procedure Manual for final review and approval at the Oct. 24, 2022 CPMT meeting.
During the same session, members completed Governance-section worksheets from the OCS Self-Assessment workbook (Policies and Procedures, Process Narrative/Flowchart, Monitoring worksheets). Chair Lori Gates-Addison led the exercise and the coordinator will consolidate individual worksheets into a single Organizational Structure and Management Philosophy document for submission as part of Tazewell County’s CSA self-assessment.
The changes aim to clarify who may be invited to serve as the private provider representative, the qualifications required, and how terms will be managed given the county’s rural context. The coordinator will present the revised manual at the next CPMT meeting.
