Tazewell County’s Community Policy and Management Team voted Oct. 24 to adopt an update to its Policy and Procedure Manual allowing private provider representatives to be invited to serve on CPMT and the Family Assessment and Planning Team (FAPT).
The revision clarifies that private-provider representatives may be invited by CPMT and must meet applicable administrative qualifications — such as clinical experience or licensure — to participate. The manual suggests that, when possible, a private provider be selected to serve a two-year term but acknowledges that in rural Tazewell County staffing limitations may sometimes extend service beyond two years.
CPMT reviewed a list of six local private providers included in the meeting packet and discussed edits to a standard letter of invitation. Members agreed to add the word "potential" to the invitation and a line specifying that selection "will be selected on a first response to this invitation." Roberta Boyd moved to approve the policy update; Jeff Brintle seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
The change is administrative and intended to broaden outreach to qualified local private providers while recognizing rural recruitment constraints; staff will send the revised invitation per the updated language and continue outreach.
