Courtney Sexton, program consultant with the Office of Children’s Services, introduced herself at the Tazewell County CPMT meeting on June 26, 2023 and summarized the Enhanced Technical Assistance elective program that offers support to local CSA FAPT, CPMT and coordinators to improve operations. Members introduced themselves and noted it was Ms. Sexton’s first visit to observe the CPMT.
Chair Lori Gates-Addison described several upcoming events and regional training opportunities in September focusing on substance abuse treatment and support services, and said Bluefield College and the Health Department would hold related conferences. Roberta Boyd told members about an Ace Training in August and shared details of the Digital Equity and Opportunity survey sponsored by the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development; paper and online survey materials in English and Spanish were forwarded to the coordinator for distribution to CPMT and FAPT members.
The coordinator also told members that, following the 2019 Office of Children’s Services audit, monthly CPMT agenda packets are now posted on the Tazewell County Department of Social Services website with assistance from county IT and Tazewell County Attorney Chase Collins. Members agreed the trainings and conferences provide vendor and community partnership opportunities relevant to regional children and family services.
The coordinator said she will circulate calendars and training links to CPMT and FAPT members.
