CPMT told proposed 5% foster-care rate increase did not pass; rates remain at FY2022 level

At its July 24, 2023 meeting, the Tazewell County Community Policy and Management Team heard that a broadcast revising foster-care maintenance rates—labelled as a 5% increase in an earlier June 5 broadcast—did not pass in the final FY23 budget.
CPMT Chair David Taylor noted the packet included both a broadcast on child-welfare legislation effective July 1, 2023 and a broadcast on the FY23 budget update for foster-care maintenance payments. He told members that although a revision proposing a 5% increase had been circulated, it was not included in the enacted budget and therefore rates will remain at the FY2022 levels. The packet said providers, guardians and families had been notified of the outcome.
The item was provided for CPMT review; members did not take formal action to change local practice at the meeting and were asked to note the information in their records.
