Tazewell County CPMT: state-adjusted CSA supplement approved; half released for immediate use

Tazewell County’s Community Policy and Management Team approved its March 2023 financial report April 24 and confirmed that the Office of Children’s Services (OCS) adjusted a locally requested supplemental CSA allocation to $1,398,653.47 and released half of that amount for immediate use.

The CSA coordinator told the CPMT that Fiscal Assistant Shanun Smith submitted a supplemental allocation request on April 11 after local expenditures from July 31, 2022 through April 11 totaled about $1,502,990.47, leaving a local balance of $855,138.26 for the remainder of the fiscal year ending June 30. The locality had originally requested $1,599,705; OCS adjusted the award and released $699,326.73 (50%) for immediate use, an amount the coordinator said appears on the March 2023 financial report. Jeff Brintle moved to approve the March financial report; the motion was seconded and passed unanimously.

Why it matters: the supplement increases available CSA funds to cover services for children and families through the fiscal year end on June 30. The CPMT’s vote ensures staff can authorize services while local and state accounting continues.
