Tazewell County's PSSF five-year plan highlighted; CPMT to work with OCS consultant on enhancement plan

Members of the Tazewell County Community Policy and Management Team reviewed programmatic materials Nov. 27, 2023, including inclusion of the county's five-year Promoting Safe and Stable Families (PSSF) plan in a statewide PSSF Showcase and an OCS Enhanced Technical Assistance initial report.
The meeting packet included a selection of 2020 PSSF five-year plans from multiple localities for comparison. CPMT members noted that Tazewell County was included in the showcase; the minutes say the county plan was written by Shanun Smith, Tazewell County fiscal assistant. Members read the county Community Needs Assessment and discussed ways Safe and Stable Family Funds are being used locally.
The Office of Children's Services had also updated its guidance for the service of Intensive Care Coordination (ICC), removing prior language that had prohibited ICC when used with other targeted case management services. CPMT reviewed the updated OCS guidance and the online CSA User Guide and determined the way local policy was written did not require removing ICC-related language from the Tazewell County CSA Local Policy and Procedures Manual (pages 21'22).
Courtney Sexton, an OCS program consultant, completed an Enhanced Technical Assistance initial report that was previously emailed to CPMT and FAPT members on Nov. 20. Members raised questions about the report's observations and findings and agreed the item requires continued discussion. The minutes record that Ms. Sexton will attend a future CPMT meeting on Feb. 26 to review the report in person and assist CPMT in developing a Program Enhancement Plan that will set strategies, benchmarks and target dates for each recommendation.
The coordinator provided backup documentation for several policy, training and process recommendations and asked members to bring the report and backup materials to the next CPMT meeting on Dec. 18, 2023.
