Lunenburg County Electoral Board reviews cybersecurity support, equipment storage and election dates

Lunenburg County Electoral Board Chairman Donna Dagner called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. on Feb. 7, 2023, with all members and the general registrar present.
Secretary Oliver Oliver reported the board is seeking a quote to extend cybersecurity services from Assura through the end of the fiscal year; those grant-funded services will end on March 3. Oliver said he will also request a quote for Assura services for the next fiscal year to include in the board's upcoming budget request. The board's registrar noted a major security survey is due by the end of February and that Assura will assist with that work.
Chairman Donna Dagner asked about follow-up with Mr. Hatley after the board located his previously missing write-in vote and confirmed it was correctly recorded at his precinct. The secretary said there has been no further correspondence from Mr. Hatley.
Dagner also asked whether there had been any new developments on remediation after a recent office flood; the board reported nothing new. Separately, the secretary said he is coordinating with Gordon Irby, Clerk of the Court, about using a secure storage room in the courthouse for some election equipment.
On logistics, the board noted that if a primary is called this year it would be held on June 13. Members also noted a special election for a Kenbridge Town Council seat will be conducted during the November general election. The deputy registrar reported that letters of appointment have been sent to this year's officers of election.
The board set its next meeting for March 7 at 4:00 p.m. The meeting was adjourned at 4:40 p.m.
