Kinex and RiverStreet present rural broadband plans; Lunenburg board OKs letters supporting BEAD bids

Representatives from Kinex and RiverStreet told the Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors on Nov. 14 that their planned infrastructure projects would close broadband gaps in rural localities, and they requested letters of support for Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment (BEAD) grant applications.
Both presenters outlined plans to increase broadband affordability and service delivery in their jurisdictions and asked the board to endorse their applications to the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development. The board voted unanimously to approve letters of support for both companies.
Chairman Alvester L. Edmonds and board members did not raise objections; County Administrator Tracy M. Gee instructed staff to prepare the letters. The presentations were brief and no formal contract or financial commitment by the county was requested at the meeting.
Next steps: County staff will prepare and send letters of support; the companies will proceed with their BEAD applications to DHCD as they complete required bid materials and funding applications.
