Lunenburg County Board elects leadership, adopts governance rules and schedule

At its Jan. 9 reorganizational meeting the Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors elected leadership, adopted the board’s ethics and rules, and approved the 2025 meeting and holiday schedule. The minutes show a minor internal wording inconsistency on the vice-chair result.
Alvester Edmonds was nominated and elected chairman of the Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors at the board’s annual reorganizational meeting on Jan. 9, 2025. County Administrator Tracy M. Gee called the meeting to order and presented the roster of officials and staff in attendance.
The board moved quickly through routine organizational business. Supervisor Frank W. Bacon nominated Edmonds for chairman, a nomination seconded by Supervisor T. Wayne Hoover; nominations were closed and a roll-call vote recorded the election. The board also considered the vice-chair position: Supervisor Mike Hankins nominated Supervisor Frank W. Bacon for vice-chair, seconded by Supervisor Hoover, and the board closed nominations. The minutes contain an internal inconsistency in the roll-call language associated with the vice-chair item and name the wrong person in one line; the record otherwise indicates the board took the vote and recorded it as unanimous.
The board unanimously adopted its Code of Ethics and Procedures and voted to use Robert’s Rules of Order for meetings. It also approved the board’s Invocation and Meeting Schedule and the 2025 Holiday Calendar.
The meeting adjourned later in the evening after routine items and appointments were handled.
