The Board unanimously approved recommendations from the Finance Committee to distribute $50,000 in Meridian Waste community donations among five local organizations: $10,000 to the Kenbridge Community Gym for a new HVAC system; $10,000 to the Victoria Community Center for skating supplies; $10,000 to the People’s Community Center for new chairs; $10,000 to Community Resource Services for a food pantry; and $10,000 to Lunenburg Health Services to support free services for seniors and shut-ins. Supervisor T. Wayne Hoover presented the Finance Committee’s recommendations and the Board approved distribution to be made in April 2025.
At the same meeting the Board accepted and appropriated a $14,217 Item Conservation grant awarded by the Library of Virginia to the Clerk of the Circuit Court for document preservation; Administrator Gee noted no local match is required.
These actions allocate donated community funding to local non-profit and community organizations and provide small-grant funding to preserve county records.
