The Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors on May 8 approved several routine administrative items, including a vehicle purchase for Social Services, a credit card authorization, surplus declarations, a Conditional Use Permit recertification and an appointment to the Airport Commission.
Administrator Tracy M. Gee presented a request from the Department of Social Services to use staff vacancy savings to purchase a 2018 Ford Explorer from Davis GMC Truck, Inc. in Farmville for $23,999. The Board unanimously approved the purchase.
The Board also authorized the Department of Social Services to obtain a second credit card through Benchmark Community Bank and split the existing $5,000 limit between two cards, making each card’s limit $2,500. The Board declared two damaged cubicle partitions surplus for disposal at the request of Assistant Director Lisa Nagorsky.
Administrator Gee reported that American Towers submitted a five‑year recertification application for a telecommunications tower at 3673 Rehoboth Road (property owners David A. and Kimberly G. Newcomb). CTA Consultants reviewed the recertification package and determined the facility and application met recertification requirements and applicable codes; the Board approved recertification. Supervisor Edward Pennington nominated and the Board appointed Bettye Langley‑Lyles to the Airport Commission for District 6 (Hound’s Creek).
