Mecosta County board approves Maximus cost-allocation contract, large voucher payments and a slate of personnel and equipment requests

The Mecosta County Board of Commissioners on May 15 approved several fiscal and operational items, including a three-year cost-allocation contract with Maximus and large voucher payments.
Commissioner William Routley moved to approve and authorize the chair to sign the Maximus cost-allocation proposal for fiscal years 2024–2026; Commissioner Gary Lambrix seconded and the motion passed on a 6–0 roll call. Routley also moved to pay pre-approved vouchers totaling $1,955,932.23 and to approve and pay additional bills requiring full board approval of $124,426.70; that motion passed 6–0.
Committee and departmental items approved during the meeting included adoption of the 2021 Building Code books following a motion by Commissioner Greg Adams; approval of the low-bid purchase of a Ferris ISX800 lawn mower for $10,100 from Fund 274 COA; authorization to hire an additional road deputy; and approval of April 2025 EMS write-offs consisting of $136,851.79 contractual, $8,562.02 non-contractual and $12,579.20 collections write-offs. The board also approved $2,587.80 for online educational courses through Lexipol Police One Academy and a motion allowing the sheriff to utilize funds for regional meeting expenses as described in the motion.
All motions recorded in the minutes carried on unanimous 6–0 roll call votes. The board noted a key upcoming budget-planning date: a Committee of the Whole meeting on Oct. 29, 2025 to review the full 2026 budget.
