Isabella County commissioners approve multiple appointments, contracts and budget items

The Isabella County Board of Commissioners on Oct. 7 approved a slate of appointments to advisory bodies and moved forward on routine finance and contract items during a hybrid meeting at the Commission on Aging building in Mt. Pleasant.
In a series of motions, the board appointed Judge Eric Janes as the Trial Court appointee to the Opioid Advisory Committee and named representatives from the Central Michigan District Health Department (Anna Reetz), Ten16 Recovery Network (Jessica Miller) and Community Health for Central Michigan (Jennifer McNally) to the same committee. The board also appointed Ryan Griffus as an at-large representative providing behavioral health or opioid substance use disorder treatment for a term ending Dec. 31, 2027, and Roberta “Sue” Hahn as an at-large medical professional for a term ending Dec. 31, 2026. Motions were made and seconded by commissioners as recorded and each appointment carried by unanimous vote.
The board also cast unanimous ballots to appoint Maureen Eke as Central Michigan University’s representative to the Human Rights Committee (term to Sept. 1, 2028) and Stephanie Dunn as an at-large Human Rights Committee representative (term to Sept. 1, 2028); the minutes record abstentions by Commissioners Campbell and Weber on one related matter.
On finance and contracts, the commissioners ratified invoice lists (Sept. 12: $265,650.74; Sept. 19: $219,330.62) and approved a set of contracts and administrative items: the Region VII Area on Aging FY26 contractual agreement; an Individual Services Contract for a Tai Chi substitute instructor; a 2026 A & D Home Health Care, Inc. waiver contract; an on-call stipend for prosecuting attorneys set at $550 per week and $200 per federal holiday (with a restriction that the elected prosecutor may not receive it and that it will not automatically renew in FY2027); and Budget Amendment #2026-01BOC establishing the FY26 budget for Great Lakes Bay Michigan Works. Recorded votes for these items show Yeas from Commissioners Hope, Moreno, Engler, Swaney, Campbell, Jaloszynski and Weber, and Nays: none, where tallies were recorded.
Chairman Frank Engler opened the meeting and the board moved the general public comment period to just before a scheduled closed session; Robert Nagy of Chippewa Township later used that public comment period to raise concerns about the recycling center and the administration building.
The board approved the September 30, 2025 Finance Committee/Committee of the Whole minutes and noted that the Sept. 16, 2025 minutes will be resubmitted to the committee to reflect an added NAY vote by Commissioner Jaloszynski.
